Hello from a 'brand newbie'! Brilliant forum this: can't believe I haven't come across it until now. I think of myself as a 'part-time' bassist: I'm a guitarist really, but I seem to be becoming less 'part-time' by the day! Mind you, having acquired a lovely MusicMan Stingray 2EQ for a bargain price a few months ago to accompany a Tech21 Landmark 350 head that was similarly cost-effective I must admit there's not much incentive to return to the six-string variant! I also use a Maxon ROD 881 real tube overdrive pedal for the nasty stuff: OK, it's a guitar pedal but it seems to do the business for bass (to my ears at least)!

Anyway, great to be on board: take care!

Hey Tim,

Welcome!
Great user name, but I'm most in awe of your avatar. ;)
You'll find that a lot of bassists here started out on - or still play - the guitar, so there's company to be had here. Not me though: I'm a classical organist and (com)poser.

Are you an experienced guitarist then? Any trouble with the thicker strings and wider spacing?

Anyway,
Enjoy the forum and its banter!

best,
bert

I actually find I have more difficulty with more strings and everything being generally smaller these days Bert! had a quick go on our guitarist's Strat the other day: it felt like a ukelele! Mind you, I always struggled with Strats: Gibsons seem to 'fit' me better!

Cheers,

Tim

+1 Whenever I go back to playing guitar it feels like I am some sort of intricate clockmaker - welcome form a 'no longer a newbie'!
