Hi Guys,
I'm looking at my bass family to help me out if possible.
I am looking to relocate my life from the UK to NYC (preferably but not exclusively!)
I have been a pro audio engineer for nearly 15 years, covering most of Europe doing many many festivals and gigs and want to explore fresh horizons.
I would really REALLY appreciate any help I get.
Of course i can provide any references/C.V./Resume as required.
Again thanks,
Roon

Then you'll find it very very hard if not impossible to get a permit to work in the States.

That's from what I understand, but I may well be wrong. and hope I am, for your sake.

It's incredibly hard as a British citizen to get a work permit for the U.S, to the point where it's damn near impossible currently. You need sponsorship and financial backup. Zenitram is right, I actually dare not incriminate anyone but I've known more than one person that's married an American girl for visa reasons.

For what it's worth my skill set is quite desireable in the USA and I would be looking todo the temporary work Visa thing, and THEN, all being well would be using an Immigration lawyer. Just need an initial help with the "leap" hopefully..;)

A friend of a friend was planning a Green Card marriage with an American friend of his, I can't remember what she was getting out of it but her parents found out and threatened to report him. It is apparently quite illegal, so don't do it, and if you do, cover it up well.

Get your girl friend to marry me then I could marry an American and ..... No that won't work for you , would be kinda cool for me all the same.

I have a buddy who is a session drummer and he made the leap to New York about two years ago. He hasn't been out of work since. Shoot me a pm and I will give you his email. He did marry an American in the end but that was for true love :)

Hi Roon , just to reiterate what everybody else has said about it being extremeley difficult to get a working visa for the U.S.A , but if you can find a way round that , and I wish you the best of luck , have you thought about contacting a few of the big Sound Reinforcement companies in the States with your C.V ? The first one that springs to mind is Clair Brothers , but I'm sure there must be a good few more that someone else might know of . They would be the kind of organisations that might have the neccesary clout to get you a work permit it they want you for your skills and experience . Clair Brothers have also got a U.K -based business amongst their many interests , , so that might help .

Here's a link to their website . There should be all the relevant contact information for the U.S.A and Uk on there :

I don't know if it's still the same, but a mate got in 10 years ago by doing a Phd over there and Teaching!
[/quote] that's quite different to going over there to work!
