Hello there, Just a quick intro from a tinnitus ridden old'n... (48 with the ears of a 90yr old)

Been playing since 1986, mostly covers stuff of all genres in pubs and clubs across the South of the U.K.
Didn't wear ear protection in the early days, so now struggling with the hearing, particularly my "snare drum" side, left ear...... but giving up playing is absolutely out of the question.
Current basses are:

A well used '76' Fender Jazz
Wilkes MM copy
Two Signature Jazz bass copies (one fretless)
'96' Warwick F.N.A Corvette
'03' Warwick Thumb "Bleach Blonde" ltd
Squire Precision 5 string (jazz pups)
OLP 5 string
Leduc Logabass by Sanox 5 string
Ibanez EWB20WNE 5 string

Amps n stuff:
Early 90's Hartke HA3500 mosfet
Ernie Ball HD500 head
Trace Elliot AH500 90's tank
Mesa Boogie 2x15 cab

Just realised how many basses I have hidden from my wife!....Oooops!

Cheers for now, Kev.

Hey Kev,

Welcome! So you're old enough to settle down then, and talk some sh*te with our bunch? Great career move. I hope you'll thrive here.

Loved your list of basses. Didn't like your list of amps n stuff, but that's only coz I'm a noob and don't know them.
The thing in your avatar would be the Leduc? Looks like it has character.

So you've hidden 10 basses from the wife then? OR? ;)

Anyway,
Enjoy!

best,
bert

Welcome Kev,

You've come to the right place. My excuse is 'no dear, I'm just looking after those for a mate who's doing time' she now thinks I'm part of some crime syndicate!

Cheers Leen

You are 'Big L' and I claim my five pounds. Or I'll have my thumbs back - either is good.

Hi Kev :crigon_04:

Join the tinnitus brigade! Oh how we suffer for our art lol! Ear protection was rubbish years ago, & most of us never thought about it did we!

I don't know, all you lot hiding guitars from the wife..... Never had that problem with the old man!

Ah don't worry buddy, we'll pop that basschat cherry for you!

Welcome to the tinnitus team! I've suffered from it for as long as i can remember, and just thought it was normal and everyone had it... oops. I have found a cure for the annoying ringing noise though- just make sure you are always listening to something loud enough to drown out the ringing :D

Welcome, and enjoy! You might have noticed by now, but we tend not to take ourselves too seriously.

Welcome from another old fart from the deep south.

haha very clever word play there

the advantage of being really old though is that you eventually reach a point where you dont give a monkeys about hiding all the basses any more :D

Usually because she left you years ago.

I am just trying to figure out how I am going to get another two double basses into the house without 'her indoors' noticing ( just bought a Boosey and Hawkes Excelsior and another beautiful 1950s lammi to do up ) ...I think I am stuffed!

Welcome @Slimriddim - any tips?

Simply make the basses invisible! That's done by objects being held in front of them as it were, between her eyes and the basses. A good example of such objects could be a 50 point diamond ring or maybe two plane tickets to the destination of her dreams.

See, it's really not that complicated once you put your mind to it. :)

BTW, where's your intro thread?

best,

@bert ...and lay my self bare to the ravages of this forum!! Less said the better!!

Plane tickets for two - perfect - whilst she's away I can sneak them into the house and play for hours ! ( don't know who she's going to take with her though!)
