Big_Stu
Valve amp Specialist; Preston, Lancs. Just had my Hiwatt 200 in to an Amp Tech that I had recommended by a local music shop. It had a constant loud background hum that I had been told online could be down to an imminent cap failure or power tube problems. I left it with the new (to me) tech who looked over it very quickly, checked it couldn't be my beloved GEC KT88s, not the caps & eventually tracked it down to a bad ground. What I was dreading could have been a slightly expensive cap job, or a disastrous re-valve was fixed & covered by his standard fee for an investigation. I'm sure there are some who would have said they did more, replaced unnnecessary part etc & charged accordingly. Very courteous, very prompt, knowledgable (builds his own amps too) and for me one reassurance was seeing the use of cabs & guitars to check with too & not just a multi-meter. He's also very accesible with a nearby motorway link within 5 mins of his premises. No hesitation in recommending DPE Services in Preston Lancashire. Tel 01772 715097. He's now in Newmills, Dunfermline. http://www.dennismarshall.co.uk/contact.htm I can highly recommend him, he's an absolute guru on valve amps, all of the main brands (he lives & breathes Sound City) and is well worth the trip over the river. I lived in Edinburgh for 24 years & never found anyone in his league. Check out his client list, it speaks for itself. JimmySims
Anyone with valve amps for repair, I've been using Ted Woods (07904321155) in Stoke Newington north London for years. He sometimes has stuff for sale too. Excellent chap, reasonable prices and quick turn around. Jimmy Sims

Popped down to Steve today to get my ailing Hartke looked at and whilst there he had a look at my ailing Warwick too, all sorted, will get a chance to give them a good cranking next week. Top bloke at a good price and served a monster cup/mug/flagon of tea to go with my supplied HobNobs which he was grateful for!

dennis marshall
Hi All. Just to let everyone know who has tried or wants to get in touch with me – I do not have any connection with the new company calling itself Emerson Williams. This company is not the same company that I formed in 2004. They are trading using the name Emerson Williams and the web domain name of emersonwilliams.com. Anyone wanting to reach me should contact me through my website www.dennismarshall.co.uk. And now a quote from the late Dr Hunter S. Thomson ‘The Music Business is a money trench, a long plastic corridor where pimps and thieves run free and good men die like dogs. There is also a negative side’ Dennis
bassbluestew
Hey a HUGE plus 1 for Dennis. Buy cheap, buy twice.........Dennis may not be the cheapest, but neither is he expensive in my experience. He does a first class job and as has been said really takes a huge pride in what he does. and is one of the old school ( and I mean that as a big complement ) who will happily go the extra mile to fix your gear and you might not know about it for some time, if ever. I didn't find him at all eccentric...........very enthusiastic, extremely professional, hugely talented at diagnosing and fixing faults. More power to your elbow Dennis !!! Don't hesitate in using him. Stewart

I've used the word "guru" about him many times, but that's entirely down to seeing him as a master of what he does, always having an answer to all amp issues. I readily agree with everything you've said about Dennis.
