All,

Any recommendations for very small, cheap 'n cheerful bass combos for home practice? Something along these lines:

Thanks

For home practice only, yes. But I doubt that'll go as cheap as you think it might (though I could be wrong). They're just over £400 new.

What's your budget?

Meant to ask, is the bass still blue?

For home practice my fave is the Ampeg BA-108, but if you`re not an Ampeg fan, it would be a bad buy, as the tone is Ampeg through and through, and it doesn`t really do much else. Another little combo I liked was the Fender Rumble. And the Line6 HD15 gets a lot of recommendations on here, and having heard a few, I`m not surprsied.

Thanks for the suggestions. My budget is actually as small as possible. Under £100 would be good.

PS. Yes, the blue bass is still blue.

Any good for you? I frequently work near Hastings and Croydon so could sort of deliver/meet somewhere if its any use.

Hartke kickback 1x12 - small, kickback/wedge shape good as you can point it up directly at you for practice and/or monitoring at gigs/rehearsal, decent sound, enough power to jam/gig with if your drummer's not too loud and/or you have PA support.

Only negative point is lack of a line in for jamming with headphones which is easily solved with a little external mixer or PC audio interface.

I got one used in great condition within your budget, definitely recommended.

Roland Cube, Line6 110 Studio, Peavey Microbass (cheapest and simplest of the lot). The Fender ones aren't too bad either if you can pick one up cheap.

Yeah I'd noticed that and it looks ideal. Trouble is, I just can't get on with the look of it. I'll have a think.

Your budget is under 100 sniffs and you want style???????? Its a black box for that kind of wonga.

It sounds great though - nothing much better for the cash

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm being very picky wanting something I like the look of at £100 (although having said that, I can't actually abide the faux high-tech, testosterone fuelled in-yer-face glare of most bass amps and combos at any price), but there's a part of me naively hanging on for something that I don't feel I'd have to keep my eyes shut in order to use. Ironically, a plain black box (solid ebony of course, ok, painted MDF) with an input socket and a volume control would do the trick for me.

Is it just me that feels they're on the wrong planet?

You could always sit on it whilst you're playing - wont have to look at it then.

Unless of course you are exceptionally gymnastic.

Or paint the Roland logo yellow perhaps!

Oh I can help you there, with this shameless plug, it is black, and the controls are minimal, and it is very much under 100 quid...
