worst amp you have owned or had the luck to use

Worst Amps.

 

1. A 1980s Carlsbro Cobra 90. I blew the speaker twice in it, very underpowered amp.  

2. TC BH250. Sounded OK but died shortly after I bought it.

3. Ampeg Portaflex 350 head, again no welly at all.

A sixty (?) watt combo with a single 12" called a 'Syncron'. It was utterly dreadful. I remember, young and clueless as I was, I still got a sinking feeling when I first heard a bass through it.

I notice a slight lack of love for Carlsbro. Not to be contrarian but I rather liked my Cobra Combo (12" speaker, one of the early ones with the controls on the top). The push button filters were really awesome with the Aria P I used to play in those days. Really heavy though. Maybe I only thought it was good because it came directly after the Syncron....😆

To be fair to Carlsbro, they also made the Delta Bass range from the late 90s, which they co-developed with the Overwater guys. They were rather good, with some innovative features for the time. I don't think they sold too many of them though.

I had one of these, the 600 watt Delta head. Was okay IIRC, I believe they wanted to steal some

of Trace Elliot’s thunder. Weighed about the same too….
