guntherbuffalo Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Hi, re-tolexing a bass cab for a friend. Anyone know where has the best prices in the UK for tolex? Thanks in advance Paul Quote
charic Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Ou7shined did a pretty nice tolex finish on a cab IIRC, it might be worth dropping him a line, he had a build thread somewhere too Quote
guntherbuffalo Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Awesome. Thanks will give him a try! Quote
Bigjas Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I use Solsound on Ebay, seems quite reasonable and its good Tolex. Monckyman Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 That's a good store if you like Marshall and Fender Rolex. No ampeg,Vox etc. Quote
Billy Apple Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Give Matamp a call, they've got this... (erm, it looks wine-y to me) http://www.matamp.co.uk/contact-us/ Quote
guntherbuffalo Posted February 3, 2013 Author Posted February 3, 2013 Oo looks very nice. I shall ask for a sample! Thanks! Quote
guntherbuffalo Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 For anyone else looking - Found a lot of good stuff on ebay that is leatherette, or book covering rexine from fabric stores. It looks just as good and is about £3.99 a metre. I have ordered some samples so I will let you know what they are like. It seems if you call it amp tolex you can charge a tenner more for the stuff!! ;-D Quote
charic Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Beware... that may be because amp tolex is harder wearing Quote
6v6 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013
Beware... that may be because amp tolex is harder wearing
This - definitely request a sample before ordering any quantity - I've used tolex from various sources and some of it is tough & hardwearing, whilst some of it is thin and tears/rips as soon as you sneeze at it. Last time I got black fender style tolex from vyse it was the good stuff, not cheap though (I'm sure it wasn't this expensive last time I ordered!): http://vyseamps.com/grill_cloth.htm Quote
