Hi all,

Has anyone heard anything more on these as regards to release date? They were debuted at NAMM 2012 (or Musikmesse, I can't recall) and haven't heard a thing since!

Spoke to Westside distribution here who import Mesa gear and they weren't sure. It's been over a year!

Most recent I could find was on the No Treble website about June last year.

They look rather good

I think there was a thread about this a while ago. The range of comments included:

'probably will be overpriced'
'probably not as good as a 400+'
'a bit uglier than I expected actually'
'they are going to awesome'
'I'm totally getting one'
'Why don't they just make a 600 watt Walkabout?'
'When are they going to be released?'
'I wonder what they would sound like when paired with a Barefaced?'
'Don't bother, get a Matamp'

Dave, Is it not working with your CN212?

works fine Chris. Phil and Vic want to try it and it'll give me chance to give it a blast.

I had a Prodigy, after two gigs and three rehearsals the honeymoon period was short lived. I was disappointed with it and for the thick end of £2000, it went back.

My walkabout is a superb piece of gear and on this basis I bought one. However, In my experience..

Tonally it was one dimensional and lacked the authority that I'd expected.
I didn't like the EQ.
(I felt) Transporting it required the care and attention befitting 'Hannibal Lecter'

I like Boogie gear, but not this and I've since moved on.

Noting the increased power and graphic EQ I suspect the Strategy is a better head.

still no Mesa Boogie Bass Strategy users in the UK?

My drummer says: "It's got the WALL FACTOR"
[/quote]

Is that as in, it makes you feel like you've run into a wall?

Maybe smashed your nose and your ears are bleeding?

I can see how that might appeal to a drummer :)

Westside Distribution in Denmark St are a Mesa agent in UK. It was them that had the heads on display at the London Bass show a few months back.

Last time I was in their shop they had either a Strategy or Prodigy available for demo, also had quite a few Mesa cabs in stock.

Finally got to use my Prodigy depping as house bass at local Jam last week and again last night. Great tone with the Berg CN212. Several comments about tonal quality, clarity and the fact that the bass could be heard cutting through regardless of who was drumming.

Despite initial concerns after blowing a fuse early in its life and the odd horror story on TB, it's been very reliable and a doddle to use.
