N61****** (N6 = 1996) Your guitar was made at the Corona Plant (Fender), USA in the Year(s): 1996 - 1997 DLX jazzes 1995-98 had electronics and pups designed by John Suhr who worked for Fender R&D at that time, one reason to consider this particular run of Deluxe Fender Basses to be one of the companies best. bass is strung through the body and bridge. straplocks fitted. the first USA made ‘Active’ Jazz Bass by Fender. It’s a 9volt, three-band EQ with stacked knobs.. New Design Jazz Bass V Humbucking Pickups the fact that this was Fender’s first production ‘Active’ bass and the array of features may make it a future collectable. Pau Ferro fingerboard, tighter and denser than rosewood but avoids the extra bite of maple. The neck itself is maple with graphite reinforcement. The Five String Deluxe is stock with Gotoh tuners. All USA Fenders made during 1996 bore a Fender 50th anniversary emblem on the back of the headstock. The bass comes withor without a moulded flight case- see options. any questions, get in touch. photos here: http://www.mcollinge...azz%20DLXV.html located in south east Lancashire. can deliver within 50 miles for fuel costs or meet within same distance - or can collect and try out. have the moulded case or a heavy duty case and cardboard box so could, theoretically, post. would have to have cleared payment first and speak to buyer about shipping options and costs. Pinball
I played a 97/4 stringer in PMT and as you say "supercharged", awesome sound. I was desperate to buy it but wallet said no. If yours is as nice as that one someone is in for a treat.
silverfoxnik
I had one of these about 5 years ago.. Because i was using my Roscoe Beck 5 so much at the time, i ended up trading it for a Sandberg 5 string, but it was a really good bass. It played really well and sounded good for almost any style of music - a proper workhorse of a bass! Good price; well worth a punt so have a BUMP on me. JPJ
Hmmm this looks familiar....... Bump for a great bass, as the OP states, the active circuit and the 'big pole piece' pickups give this bass a great range of tones, and it's probably one of the easiest 5 stringers to play as its quite a narrow neck. Bump from a former registered keeper :-)
