lobematt
I've got a 93 Warwick Fortress with a Wenge fretboard. It's always strung with roundwounds but I've noticed recently it's getting a fair bit of wear. I don't know if it's enough to really worry about though because I want to keep using rounds and don't really want to coat the board! BigRedX
Are you getting inconsistencies in tone as you move between the worn and non-worn areas? If not don't worry about it until you do. And you don't need to coat the board. The fix when the wear does start to affect the tone and playability is to "shoot" the fingerboard back to a smooth surface. Get a good luthier to do this for you when it does need it.
lobematt
No inconsistencies yet, I'll leave it be! Thanks man.
brensabre79
A bit of a sanding should even it out if it needs it, not bad fro 20 years of steel on wood though really. As above, get a luthier to do it!
