Is anyone aware of a decent bag for these? As in, a bag you take the head out of, rather than a rack bag? I'm guessing the Aggie one is no longer made...

If you find one can you please post a link over here? I'm also looking for a bag for my TF that's about the same size as the AG500. From my searches i only found two suitable, the AG500 bag (that seems to be discontinued) and the Eden WT-800 bag (that's a bit pricey and has to be sent in from the US).

Cheers

Just my thoughts on this as I own one.
Firstly, it was great to meet you Michael at the bass bash (ear blood letting event!). We briefly spoke about the head there during packing up. I love my AG500 SC, I didn't go for the dual channel for the same reason Molan states. It's a dreadful distortion sound, and besides I have a great distortion pedal.
I use my 500SC for every bit of music I play, everything from pop, rock, funk and soul to dance, disco, ska and country. I only tweak the EQ when the room sounds 'boomy'. Other wise, when DI'd, it's never touched and it sounds great. Sound engineers love the signal from it, I recently had a sound man ask me to use it rather than the onstage rig!
I use it with the MarkBass 102P (8ohms) and it has always been more than loud enough, I've used it at the Think Tank, The Cluny and Cluny 2 and never had any issues with regards to hearing myself. I run it with the 1x8 ohm cab so the head is running at 250watts.

To some up, it's the best head I've ever owned, it sounds great live and recorded. You've heard the recordings Chloe & The High Tides have done and that was with this head. I can't see myself using another head, and I hope not as they're discontinued. And as we've all seen, discontinued Aguilar heads quickly gain demand. I managed to get the proper padded bag for it off here, though you may struggle but they can always be rack mounted.

If you want, give me a shout and I can pop over to yours, or you're welcome to mine to play around with the head.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the offer, Dan... much appreciated!

Ghost_bass - if my calculations are correct, this should be a decent fit. Check first, though!

I have an Odyssey bag for my Walkabout, and they're great. Very protective, but light.

Having said that, I don't know where you would get one in the UK.

That one looks great but i prefer to get something that doesn't look like a Laptop bag because it increases the chances of someone grabbing it at the end of a gig.

I did!
good stuff. How is it? Will you be making lots of nice videos for your youtube channel? You know I can still hum the baseline you normally play on them and havn't seen one for months and months :)

Ha.. Sorry about that.

Amp isn't here yet - I'll post when it lands. I'll be hanging on to my Walkabout for a bit just in case...

As for the videos... I don't really bother any more. I can't record them well enough and my playing sucks. :-)
whatever! :P I know you feel pressure to start slapping all over the shop when making a video for youtube but you don't have too!
I've found both your and kjung of talk bass's videos really helpfull (before he took all his down) - yes you can't hear exactly what things sound like - but you can hear differences between things! :)

Probably a decent enough reference but no payback from them..
so too much effort for little return..??

Plus one. Plus he gets constant messages about them.

Most people may as well go to work/play a gig rather than sell products for companies who won't even notice they are helping out.
though he's prolific enough on talk bass still!
His anaylsis of the new and old power sections in the Tecamp Puma was brilliant. Made me realise I didn't want to sell mine! :)

 • 3 weeks later...

Quick update on the case situation.... I've bought a Magma Digi Control Bag L, and it's spot-on. The head fits perfectly, it's light, very well made, strong, and there's lots of room for other stuff.

It's big, and not cheap, but worth it if you don't want to go down the rackmount route. Recommended.
