toomey7
Hi ho, Just recently purchased a Status S2 headless on BassChat and I need some help locating strings. It takes double-ball end strings (will take normal strings but want to try out the doubles). Does anyone know of a shop in London that stocks them? I know I can get them online but always nice to be able to go into a shop and pick them up straight away. Thanks
BassBus
Best place to try is Status themselves. You can buy via their website or phone Dawn who will help you out with advice. Click on the link for 'on-line shop' and look for strings. They are very good value too. http://status-graphite.com/status/frames/index_home.html
toomey7
Thanks BassBus, i'll give it a look. Have you used the Status strings? Are they good?
BassBus
I use rounds, flats and halfwounds. They are very good strings. Just about to order some more halfwounds for two fretless basses. They are stainless steel rather than nickel. You can buy rounds in bulk packs of 6 sets which makes them even cheaper.
toomey7
Very helpful, thanks. Think I will order a few sets now.
zero9
+1 for status strings. I've tried Rotosound DBE strings, but gone back to Status. Best value imo.
toomey7
I was looking at the Rotosound DB's because I used normal Rotosounds currently but wasn't sure if they would be as good. Trying the Status ones first to see how I get on.
Captain Codpiece
not used DB strings (no headless for me) but i can give another thumbs up for status strings i use them on both my 4's and 5's just standard round hotwires.
Conan
I've used Elites on my Status for donkey's years. They sound good to my ears and last pretty well too... Geester
Maybe try Ken Smith DBE strings, you can get them at www.stringbusters.com or take a look on the Ken Smith web site. I used to use the Status strings but found the Ken Smiths to be a bit better and last a bit longer....however it's 'horses for courses' and it's just what you prefer I guess.....worth trying some different ones but it could take a long time if you don't change your strings that often.... TheGreek
I use the 30-90s from Status - excellent but if you're after a heavier/ cheaper set I can highly recommend the Alice double ball strings which are normally less than a tenner on eBay. toomey7
Fitted the status 30-90s on last week and they are good quality strings. Great sound and very easy to play on. I think I have been converted.
