Fender P pickup cover sizes

Afternoon,

i've just bought a pickup cover for my new Precision, as well as a gold anodized scratchplate. Both are genuine Fender parts, but the cover is too big for the holes in the scratchplate (the plate has pre-drilled holes for the cover and a tug bar). I think the plate is a 50s spec one - did the use smaller pickup covers back then? Where do I get them?!

Seems I'm stuck with. I'll check my Jazz one just in case that'll fit.

On my CIJ 70's RI the holes were just slightly to wide on the guard. I just very slightly bent the cover upwards to make it fit. Cant tell ive done it at all to be honest
