Lo.
Hope someone can help - I have the Pearl OC-07 that can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgkO85Jp-6o I want an up to date pedal as a replacement to use so I don't have to risk losing this one on gigs - can anyone advise something to try that's similar. I've had no joy whatsoever to date with any incarnation of the Boss pedals I've tried, and hope there's something out there. Thanks!

lee650
Hi I use the EBS octaver its absolutly fantastic, but it does jump your volume up a wee bit when you switch it on, it has three modes which emphasise certain frequencys, but i always just use the mid setting, i used a boss oc 2 for years and loved it, totally diffrent sound a lot more synth like, but doesnt track that well low down but IMHO the EBS doesnt track that well past low c but i always play up really high when i use it. there is a boss oc 3 but ive no experience with that. all the best- lee Hope someone can help - I have the Pearl OC-07 that can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgkO85Jp-6o I want an up to date pedal as a replacement to use so I don't have to risk losing this one on gigs - can anyone advise something to try that's similar. dannybuoy
You're in luck mate! MI Audio Polyanna is coming out, someone mentioned it's a clone of the Pearl pedal: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425910
Mr. Foxen
Ha, I found that vid a while back when I was trying to score an octaver. Not very pleased with the Boss offerings, lent my oc2 to the lead guitarist. Tuned my bass down to A with custom strings instead.
Muppet
It's a great octave, isn't it? especially with two octaves down! I bought an original one in the eighties, brand new as my first ever effects pedal and sold it a couple of years ago for well over £100. I'm glad to hear MI Audio are doing a clone, I might look at it (though I guess it's not cheap in itself) Steve
pete.young
I use the EBS octaver its absolutly fantastic, but it does jump your volume up a wee bit when you switch it on,
I have an EBS, it's very good but doesn't track brilliantly below about bottom G on a 4-string. If you adjust the mix controls you can keep the volume consistent. Better though, certainly from a tracking point of view is the Digitech Synth Wah. This has no issues tracking all the way down to a botttom E and the only reason I still have the EBS is that it's handy not to have to keep fiddling with knobs on the Digitech when I want to use it as an envelope filter. mr_russ
I'm looking into octavers at the mo, I borrowed a digitech BSW and really wasn't impressed- I'm after a clean octave down and couldn't get rid of the slight fuzzy/synthy edge - I like the octave effect on my korg px4d pandora, that in a separate pedal would be great

Lo.
Thanks for the responses! I'll see if I can try the EBS or the new MI one. I try to stay away from ebay, pity I missed that sale - I would have definitely won!
