jocke Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 How does this amp sound with bass? I am looking for a low watt all tube amp for home practice volumes and have been looking at the new Ashdown CTM 15 (not released yet). But this one looks much cooler and has more features.
sifi2112 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 Sounds great but obviously don't expect loads of bass. It stays clean at good volume certainly for bedroom level. I've used it with a tew different bass cabs to good effect. Manual states 8 or16ohms it just doesnt recommend 4" Can get quite loud tho maybe not quite up to gig level. I also use it for guitar but it's too polite for what I want. I have to run an OD / dist pedal. You're welcome to bring your cab & test drive of course. Si
spaners Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 they both look cool, but be carefull with the ashdown offering. seemy coment in that thread That looks cool but is it going to be like the LB30, anounce it now and deliver it in a uk only version over a year later at twice the price. I would love a small all tube bass amp for home but after my experience of ordering an LB30 with a 4-5 week lead time and paying up front, then selling my old amp to fund it just to find myself fighting to get my money back 6 months later coz i didnt want to stump up the extra for a uk built LB30 !!!!. Well anyone thinking of ordering this my advice would be keep your money in the bank till you see one for real. The LB30 was anonced at £365 too so be warned. Ashdown let me down befor once they wont get a second chance and i know a good few people who feel the same.
sifi2112 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 (edited) alas back up for sale as I need funds for other projects & it's just too nice an ornament, so needs to be used ! also got two nice little 8" cabs to go with this as well - Eden N8 combo (cab without amp) I re-tolexed this in cream/off white with black hardware / speakon 8 Ohm .. not the best tolex job but looks ok (still better than carpet finish) = £30 - hand built open/closed back guitar cab (black stained tru-oil ply) loaded with Celestion Eight 15 ... sounds & looks great IMHO ... speakon/jack combo 16 Ohm = £70 These prices don't include postage & I'd rather you checked em out first but sure we could work something out. Will take better pics in daylight if anyone wants them. Both sound great with this amp ........ I'll do a deal on the whole lot ! Edited January 12, 2014 by sifi2112
