Paul S Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I have a black/black Fender Precision with a Mighty Mite maple/maple Jazz neck on it. Having left the headstock decal-less for a while now I have decided to stick a Fender decal on it - 70s style Precision Bass one as that is how the bass has ended up looking. The neck is the plain finish, rather than tinted, which I think has a light coating of clear satin finish on it? Certainly looks like it, rather than being completely un-finished wood. What would experienced hands suggest as the best clear laquer to use? I think I would prefer satin finish, but how do you keep a satin finish when polishing? tried it before on a headstock and it ended up gloss! ta! Quote
brensabre79 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Poly or Nitro should go over OK. As for keeping it satin... Don't polish it so much? I'm just refinishing a strat in satin nitro over poly, it really doesn't need much polishing to be honest. Quote
