xilddx Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Usually, the sh*t times generate some new music, new bands rattling on about how sh*t the world is, hippie folkies telling us to cheer up, deth metallers saying old Nick told 'em this would happen ages ago, etc. Has the global recession produced any good bands you know about? bobbass4k Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Not that I'm aware of, there's a lot of young indie bands doing the faux working class schtick, which is at best annoying, and at worst insulting and patronizing. Quote
Skol303 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I'm not a big fan of Plan B, but I did quite like his track Ill Manors (link here of it live on Jules), which I thought was one of the more politicised chart songs of last year. Some interesting lyrics anyway Quote

Skol303 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Oh and PS: the underground rave/warehouse scene seems to be starting up again; at least it is in the north west. Not on the same scale as during Thatcher's reign, but good to see nonetheless (<that smilie is particularly apt). Quote
Musicman20 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Not that I know of, although I've been outside the more politically charged hardcore punk scene for a year or so. I have a feeling all of this negativity will have an affect on upcoming bands. Quote

I was amazed it got such widespread airplay at the time (peaked at no. 6 in the chart according to Wiki). Quote
