RockfordStone
i'm currently going through the process of writing a bunch of new songs which members of my last band wan't to help me record and gig with. as i would like to do both with them, it looks as tho we may form a band to do it. the question is trying to find a band name, which always seems to be one of the hardest things to find. i don't want to do the project under my own name, which i guess i could do as the main song writer and front man, but i don't have the ego to pull it off. the easiest option would be for us to continue as the old band, which technically hasn't ended, but i like the idea of doing it fresh. ive tried using song names, ideas from my head, and album names, but all the ones that sound good already seem to be taken. how did you guys come up with band names? any useful tips on helping us come up with one? thanks in advance
bremen
What's your real name, and we'll tell you if it's cool enough to be the name for your project. Otherwise make one up. The Stoney Rockford All Stars.

It's a fun way to come up with a name.... The Admiral
Rural Boss looked the best to me from that list, but I saw mentioned in a BC thread the other day a piece about the WW2 fighters buried in SE Asia, and thought what a great name for a band - The Burma Spitfires. Any good?
bremen
Slusar Name Meaning Ukrainian and Jewish (from Ukraine): occupational name from Ukrainian slyusar ‘locksmith’. 'Rob' and 'locksmith', now surely there's inspiration for something there?

Earbrass
Hmm, the hardest mission ever......how about A Bridge Too Far for a band name?
Skol303
Nothing uncool about Rob Slusar mate! Sounds fine as an artist name to me. How about going with just 'Slusar'? Short, snappy and a bit enigmatic. Of the annagrams, I love Rural Boss but wouldn't recommend it without a suitable image to match (banjos, straw hats and sh*t). ahpook
my only advice on choosing band names is never choose anything with any doubt over how it's spelled, as you'll soon get sick of spelling it to people.

Muzz
Slightly OT, but a guy I used to work with was once booked into a Hotel in the States in the name of Terver Contninong. His real name is Trevor Cunningham.

Big_Stu
was the logo - or one very much like this - in my school band many eons ago. Oh how the art/drama teacher laughed every time he called us "Spilt Milk".
