i've finally managed to acquire a bass from my past, a 1983 model in Sunset Red Gloss.

The condition is very good, cosmetically a few chips missing laquer, some swirl marks and a grubby volume knob.
The active circuitry doesn't seem to be working at the moment, and the action is set far too high for my liking, all minor issues that are easily remedied.

That is a nice one. Great basses, really nice necks.

I wish they weren't quite so heavy - I had a cracker in black that I had to move on.

Looks very nice, I'm guessing it was built by Matsumoku they look a bit like 80's Aria's

Yep they were.

I've still got one of those Aria SB900's in that red finish that I bought new back in the 80's. :)

Love that red paduak finish to Aria SB basses - mine is an oak finish which is nice but I prefer the red

Wow - that looks real tidy.
I took my tatty old '82 Thunder 1 to rehearsal last night and, as always, was pleased to be reminded how nice it plays and how huge it sounds.

I had one in a natural finish as my first bass - infinitely better than the gear coming out of the Fender factory of the time...these are starting to go up in price in recognition of their quality...good buy IIDSSM
