GazWills Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 hey folks, sorry to start another chorus thread, but after some advice between 2 pedals in particular, and I suppose opinions on digital vs analog when it comes to chorus. I have never really used chorus before, but one of my bands is moving in a joy division / cure kind of direction, and it could add something nice for occasional use... I love simple pedals, and would have picked up the MXR micro chorus, if I hadn't heard so many negative comments regarding the volume jump when turning it on. anyway, don't wanna spend over £100, and it seems the TC corona and the MXR analog chorus are pretty good bets for digital and analog units respectively. does anybody have strong feelings either way between these two? not having much experience with chorus pedals, is there much difference between analog and digital, in the way there is with delay, for example?? any thoughts appreciated. cheers Quote
stoker Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 EHX Clone Theory. That's what Hooky used. Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 The analog chorus is a clone/ reworking of the old boss ce5. It can do lush, soupy to subtle and all points between Quote

[/quote] I'm not too keen on having an old EHX pedal on the board, not the most road-worthy in my experience! Is the EHX re-issue any good? most new EHX stuff I've tried (microsynth in particular) is pretty poor when compared to the original versions... Edited February 15, 2013 by GazWills Quote

Has anyone compared the TC to the MXR? Not sure any locals shops round my way stock both... Quote
stoker Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) From what I hear the new Clone Theory is good but has been described by some critics as 'less exciting' compared to the original but I imagine that is just subjective. Edited February 16, 2013 by stoker Quote
Mog Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Of the two you mentioned I prefer the MXR. The Corona was a bit brittle to my ears. If you fancy something cheap and versatile thats also reliable then IMO the Digitech Bass Multi Chorus is worth a look. It can go from very subtle to OTT. Quote

tonyquipment Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Not sure, not been delivered yet...however I am oozing with anticipation! Quote
tonyquipment Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I got it today !!! Yay Had a quick play around with it Really glitchy analog sounding chorus... Sounds a bit 'milky' Will make a demo of it on YouTube when I get some more time Quote
Bret Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 The new EHX Clone Theory's are really noisy compared to the old ones. I have the vintage one and there's virtually no noise at all. Quote
