Mykesbass Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Wouldn't think of doing such a thing, but if I could play it, Tommy Cogbill's "Son of a Preacher Man" Quote
thisnameistaken Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I've never had any friends who were impressed by bass playing. Quote
Chris2112 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 For sheer wow factor, Classical Thump is hard to beat. Because it looks fantastic and sounds amazing. I tend to find that even in the opening few bars, when you are hitting the open strings and hammering on the melody notes, even without double thumbing, makes most people get up and look. It has so much class, mainly because it's not just 'look at me' stuff, it's a beautiful tune. Quote

Lovely story (he was obviously moved when recounting the tale), humour, nice little bit of playing. Thanks for that link. Quote
JTUK Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I don't play any songs... I just play a little trick or something that falls to hand easily... Quote
Roland Rock Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I can't remember the last time I've played solo to anyone. I'm not a flashy player at all, so would just play something recognisable, like Groove is in the Heart Quote
Lynottfan Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Lizzy Dancing in the moonlight, great little bass riff. Quote
tonyxtiger Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Steptoe and son theme tune or the Gary Numan one from Alan partridge. Thats usually enough to stop any more requests. Edited February 17, 2013 by tonyxtiger Quote
