Rigges
Hi! I'm about to buy a used Ampeg SVT-410HE cab. Thought these cabs would have Speakon jacks? The cab i have been offered doesn't have them. How do i connect a SVT-15E then? Should i better look for a newer (?) version of this cab? Your help is appreciated a lot! Cheers Andy
barkin
Get a suitable cable. Jack on one end, and whatever's present on the 15 (speakon/jack/whatever) on the other. Edited February 16, 2013 by barkin
davehux
David (OBBM) does top quality leads - jack to jack or jack to speakon, depending on what the head has. The cables are thick as a babies arm http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/bassic-bits/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
Rigges
Thanks mates! That means i have to connect my amp with a jack to jack to the SVT-410HE (left input?) and jack to whatever the 15 has (right input used as output?)? Might be a stupid question but i don't see the word "Output" on the back of the SVT-410HE.

If your amp only has one output for speakers, daisy-chaining like this is the only way you can connect them.

Jack
Those inputs are wired in parallel. Whatever you put in to one will come out of other. Although my anal tendencies make sure I always use the left one as in and the right one as out................
stevie
I wouldn't buy a bass cab without Speakons nowadays. Unless you're getting a really good deal or are in a hurry, I'd wait. It's your money. Edit _ If it's jacks only, it will probably be pretty ancient - also worth bearing in mind. stevie
Ampeg and Genz-Benz fit Speakons to their current ranges. So I'm not sure what you mean by 'brand new'. If you want to put 500 or 600 watts through a jack plug originally designed to handle line level, that's your business but if a more suitable alternative is available, why not use it? Monckyman
And avoid those original 60s precisions. Them things is ancient. Get yourself a nice new one instead.
stevie
Yer pays yer money.... I'm sure you'll be OK with jacks up to a certain power but opinions vary about how much power they will handle in practice. Prosound stopped using them decades ago for speakers and switched to more suitable alternatives.
