L.O.D
Hi all.I am looking to upgrade my tuners rbx170.Has anyone had any experience with these wilkinson tuners http://www.chguitars.co.uk/tuners/bass-2-a-side/no11-wilkinson-bass-guitar-tuners-914.html. They seem a bit too cheap. I was also looking at the warwick ones http://www.thomann.de/ie/warwick_bass_tuner_machine_gold_left.htm Or can anyone recomend me a good quality replacement. Thanks
Protium
The Warwick ones look the same as the Gotoh GB7, which are excellent
brensabre79
Gotoh or Schaller are the best IMO. I think Warwick used Schaller until they started making their own. Gotoh are Japanese, so you'll find them on many high end Japanese basses, Schaller are German, hence they were used by Warwick. Both of these makes are rather expensive, and it may well be a false economy to get them for some basses. i once bought a bass off eBay because it had been upgraded with Schaller tuners, and the bass was worth less than the tuners! Wilkinson stuff is pretty cheap and its good for the money, its not the sort of quality you'd expect on a £1,000+ bass, but It'll do the job perfectly well though. I would trust the brand over any no-name ones you can get off eBay.

Protium
Just spied these in the for-sale sections, maybe worth a look? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/200358-schaller-m4-22-machine-heads/

brensabre79
There's generally speaking two sizes of tuners for bass around these days. The ones you have are the same as the schallers, the others are 1/2" ones found on Fenders and Fender derived ones. The key thing is where they screw in to the headstock. jezzaboy
The Wilkinson tuners are excellent and cheap into the bargain. I have a set on a P bass and they hold their tuning fine. I recently sold a set of the no 13 tuners from the same site and they were solid and well made. And for £25 you can`t go wrong.
