rubis
Been having a youtube day today and catching up on some things I don't normally listen to in the car, when it (re)occurred to me just how beautiful the lyrics of Joni Mitchell's songs are. This is one of my favourites of hers "Like the hexagram of the heavens, like the strings of this guitar" .................what a line ! This whole song really moves me So, who else could write such poetry ?

bobbass4k
I've always thought the lyrics to this read more like a poem, with the rhyming and everything: The section with singing starts at about 5:02, but you should listen to the whole thing because it's one of the best songs ever written. xgsjx
Marillion always had some amazing poetic lyrics & quality basslines... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbr9F_asKeQ She'll pray for endless Sundays as she enters saffron sunsets Conjure phantom lovers from the tattered shreds of dawn
Fionn
Never before, nor never again, shall a song be touched by such sublime, profound, and artful poetry. All other vocal gestures fail, like the grunting of apes, in comparison. Aye, here is the bench-mark of poetic lyricism. Aspire! ... futile as it may be...
