yorick Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Quite possibly the ugliest thing I've ever seen................. Quote
visog Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Loving the niche audience for this bass - Yes tribute band with left-handed Squire-alike. Yes it is a bit of an ugly-spud but a Pup in the 70's I was awe-inspired when CS whipped out the original! Quote
leftyhook Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 yeah but it's a replica.... I can't believe Wal created something so Fugly! Quote
risingson Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Worth every penny - in opposite land. Quote
JohnFitzgerald Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Note to self. Give thanks that even though you're left handed, you learnt to play right handed. Quote
Schnozzalee Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Well I think it's cool, i'm just too small to lift it Quote
jonsmith Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013
yeah but it's a replica....
Yes, but Chris Squire himself plays a replica made by the same people. Quote
rushbo Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The fact that this exists and there's a fitted case for it, makes me happy. Quote
Schnozzalee Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) I wonder how much it weighs; he's playing his replica on their current tour Edited February 21, 2013 by Schnozzalee Quote
chrismuzz Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Looks pretty well made! A bit "70s" for me but very cool. A bit confused as to why the top half is a 6 string instead of an 8 though. Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013
Looks pretty well made! A bit "70s" for me but very cool. A bit confused as to why the top half is a 6 string instead of an 8 though.
It was originally a 6 string guitar if I remember correctly... The original was built for Roger Newell of Rick Wakeman's band - when Chris Squire got hold of it he had no use for the guitar part so had it converted to it's present arrangement. It's a ridiculous looking beast but Squire does justify it's use - on 'Awaken' he needs to use it all! Quote
thodrik Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 It looks like a half-eaten slice of pizza. I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I thought the strings were 4, 6 in 3x2 courses (bass), and fretless 4... On one incarnation of the original, anyway.. Quote
leftyhook Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013
Yes, but Chris Squire himself plays a replica made by the same people.
ah right. yes it will be very well made..... but.....ugh! Quote

paul_5 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013
Jesus. My Back is bad enough as it is
and my front's got sick on it now. No good can come of this thread. Quote
ModLad69 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Hi lads, can any of your Wal owners tell me what size allen tool I'd need to buy for my new/used Wal Mk I bass? I think it must be in metric size since all my US allen tools do not fit the truss rod on my Wal. The neck is bowed, and the action is high, and I MUST have s straight neck with very low action and soon. I do appreciate your help with this, lads! Cheers! Quote
