BassTractor
Geek question.... What was custom about the 1x18?
It was really a custom 1x17.4 - - which is a regular 1x17.4 that was stretched to requirement. Glad to be of help!

mckendrick
Ah, yes, I see..hmph. I am graciously honoured, and somewhat bemused at the comments that you have all made. Yes, indeed, it's no longer a mystery, I admit it, its me.. I was hard up at the time, and was desperate for a new set of strings which bassist magazine gave as a reward for writing in. Id boiled my old Elites in water and vinagar and they were sh..ed. They did cock up the article and forgot to include my name, but after a couple of faxes they got it right, and I was duly rewarded with a couple of sets (5 string) of Rotosound strings. Trace Elliot loved the article and gave me some goodies including a T shirt and a guitar strap that I still use. The bass was indeed a Bass Collection SB315, and I had replaced the pickups with the famous BassLines actiives...They sounded FAT. I still use the 1x18 bottom cab (it was custom made for me by Trace, and has been 100% reliable. (I have literally used it for hundreds of gigs). I still use the 4x5 bright box, but have replaced the 2x10 with a Trace 4x10. I still gig regularly in and around the Coventry/Midlands areas, and yes, I am, Fran Pettifer.....(the waistcoat, sadly, was stolen at a gig), I've sold the Bass Collection, and now use a Yamaha TRB5p.
You are a 'kin legend, Sir. Don't disappear... we need your blood, man. Just curious: what was going on with the legs thing...? mckendrick
Look, ok, I admit it, like the long lost prodigal son, I have been found, and am most grateful for all of your searching, and as a mark of respect to you all, I am only too happy to answer ANY questions that you may have concerning my past 16 or so years, indeed, any other topics may also be considered. I can't, however, promise I'll respond every day, or that any of your prayers will be answered (as in Bruce Almighty) that would be silly, but I will do my best to communicate as frequently as possible. 'Keep the faith'
Yeah... but what about that legs thing, man?
thisnameistaken
This chap is what I would call a Great British Good Sport. Well done, Fran Pfterrier. Well done especially for still using a TE bright box. I think the last time I saw one was 1993.

Cosmo Valdemar
So anyway, what about Rob Jones and his Ric 4003?
He had to sell his waistcoat and shirt to afford that Rick...
mep
Well seeing as though I posted his picture I thought I'd better do some research. He looks like Rob Jones from Missing Andy! Only trouble is our Rob Jones would be too old now as Missing Andy's Rob is only 30. https://twitter.com/...ssingandy/media Rob Jones is a common name. The founding member of Wonderstuff was Rob Jones, R.I.P. I don't think it was him though.
Russ
That's their Top 50 and there still wasn't room for
That's me (bottom right) - I thought that old photoshoot had long since been buried! We actually paid someone for those pictures too...
TimC
HI I'm Tim, and I can play any bass, so long as it's got black and white notes. There's even more to Fran's story! Fran is not only a great bass player, but he's become an outstanding engineer and producer, and a good friend. On www.parisuk.co.uk you can read the extraordinary story of how Fran and the rest of our band from the 80's, Paris, got back together again in 2012 and ended up recording a 13 track album mastered by a Grammy-award winning producer. I've never seen him in a waistcoat, but he still stands like that sometimes. And he still has the Trace Elliott. And an old mini. Say HI to us (Parisuk) on FaceBook.
