bagsieblue
I'm toying with the idea of going to see the Yellowjackets in Manchester next month as part of my jazz beginnings introduction/education. Mr Felix Pastorius on bass as Jimmy Haslip takes a break. I know precious little of them and their music, does anybody have any transcriptions, dots or charts for me to work through to get more familiar with the music? Bilbo
There is one on here somewhere. I downloaded it years ago. Man Facing North, IIRC.
Joebass
There are a few Yellowjackets charts in each of the three new real books. Joe
bagsieblue
Thanks Bilbo.... Joebass - can you point me in the direction of the new real books please?
SisterAbdullahX
Wouldn't you just be better off listening to them first? Spotify them!
XB26354
That was my transcription on here, thank you Bilbo, ahem if you're looking for chords charts then go the Real Book route as YJ songs have tons of chords in them, which can gt a bit tedious to transcribe and learn. It's great for learning composition, but there's nothing better than listening to the tracks. There are lots of albums, and they can all start to sound a bit samey but I liked Four Corners (tasty solo on, I think, Postcards) and the album from which the track I transcribed comes - Like A River. Blue Hats is OK, as is Altered State, Dreamland and Greenhouse.
