queenofthedepths
I'm just listening to their latest album, the_Ascension, and the bass lines are much more prominent and interesting than the older stuff, so I wondered if they had a new bassist... off I go to Wikipedia, and apparently the bassist is a founding member and also writes all of the music! Not sure what to make of that, but it's damned cool
shaundixon666
I thought you had misspelled Opeth for a second there (silly me) but then off I went to youtube to have a listen. And damn you are right. There is something about a woman that can growl like that, that makes me go weak at the knees. Wow the bass line at 1:31 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acc8HrxzXW0 Thank you for pointing out such a cool band, I am now currently listening to everyone of their songs I can find Got any particular song/album you recommend? Faithless
I strongly don't think, that the man misspelled the name... Because latest Opeth's work is called Watershed
Bassassin
Nah - Otep's a different band - not very Swedish or proggy! I saw them at Ozzfest in 2002, liked them enough to get their album & EP. Otep Shamaya's a pretty impressive frontwoman. Good to know they're still going, haven't checked out the new stuff yet, I'm assuming it's a bit different - their older material was good, but pretty much of its era. Jon. bassbloke
I much preferred the uber heavy bass tone on Sevas Tra. I used to really like the band and Otep Shamaya is a great front woman -equal parts scary and gorgeous- but they don;t seem to have progressed one bit since 2002 when their debut album came out. This is more like it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0epEAyyzyyA...feature=related
