Vintage Icon Series VJ96MRJP Fretless



I had never tried one before, and ok it needed a bit of work as the action was a bit on the high side but other than that, the bass sang with a very sweet voice, to be honest for the money it costs, it gives the Fender Jaco reissue a run for the money, and it sure felt smooth and resonant, it's got Wilkinson pickups and a very solid bridge, sort of an in between hi-mass and an original but surely heftier than the fender bit of tin. I have been looking to make myself a Jaco clone, but I think this will make a very good contender.

Price is somewhere below the £220 mark but I am sure you could haggle yourself a deal on the shop floor, or with some internet retailers

I bought one of these a couple of years ago and sold it last year. A really nice light (a lot lighter that my 1974 Jazz Bass!) bass for not a lot of money.

Just the ticket. I've been after a relatively cheap fretless (should my plans to acquire the one at work fail) so this is very appealing.

I really liked the two Brubakers - I thought they were on the Bass Direct stand but can't see any info about them on the shop's website. Maybe I was wrong - it happened once before..
