Low End Bee Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 No neck dive on mine. Even the one with huge Schallers made of lead. Quote
bootros Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) USA early 90s P-Bass Plus. Couldn't ever imagine selling this one. Could do with a clean though. Edited April 4, 2010 by bootros Quote
bh2 Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Cor! Cowpoke... nice. Never heard of neckdive on a pukka P bass... ever. Quote
Rosh Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) Goddamn, whilst looking for my next bass and wanting it to be a Reggie Hamilton.... ...I then came across this: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/fender-p-bass/533 ** I've never seen something so gorgeous... Anyone want to lend me an active P so I can try it in the band!? **Only shame is, the don't do a maple neck on the blue/gold! Edited April 4, 2010 by Rosh Quote
Bigwan Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I recorded a hard rock/metal album (mostly) with my precision last weekend and it sounded amazing! I hated these things for years but am totally sold on them now! Quote

I'm scared a P is a one trick pony as far as musical styles, though... Once I'm out of an indie band, what do I do then!? Quote
Doddy Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Although I'm mainly a Jazz Bass player,I have to say that for recording nothing sounds like a Precision with flatwounds. They just sit so well in the mix, whether they are played either fingerstyle or with a pick. Quote
bartelby Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 There's no neck dive with my Steve Harris P using a Mono padded strap. Quote
Lets think other musical styles that use Precisions: metal - used by loads of players (Geezer Butler, Steve Harris etc) punk - Clash, Pistols, etc slap - check out Forget me Nots with Freddie Washington on his P-bass Motown - Jamerson, Willie Weeks etc reggae - used by countless reggae artists, such as Robbie Shakespeare (albeit Jazz bass probably more favoured) I don't think P basses are confined to indie bands Mind you I am biased - I have 4 P-basses (a 51RI, a 70RI, a 72 and a 76 fretless)!!!! Both active, nice looking, Reggie Hamilton has the hipshot d-tuner which would be VERY nice to have... I dunno what I'm saying anymore, I'd buy them both in an instant but I'm saving for only one.... clauster Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I've just acquired a Squier Affinity P-bass on loan from my guitarist until the bloke he borrowed it from wants it back. (Full story cut as it warrants its own thread somewhere else) Now it's been fixed up, cleaned and had a proper set-up it's great. Quote
faceman Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I think I might be falling into this club - I've just posted a review of my Squier CV 60s Precision that I have owned for just a few days but am loving already. oldslapper Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Used to use them in the late 70's in a punk band. But after 30 years of wandering in the 5 string warwick/status/jazz desert I'm back to where it all started for me (after several recent attempts at finding one I liked) I'm always amazed at how for such a basic passive set up of 1 pick-up & volume, tone how they cut through with a band, probably where they sound best? Just ordered some GHS 3060's and can't wait. Let's face it the P bass looks soooo cool, slung low"ish" (not too low though....back can't take it at my age!), although I'd love a Les Paul bass for looks alone. Quote
Charles Obscure Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I finally got enough cash for a Precision bass. It's an MIM Standard, but I can truly say I LOVE this thing! I've had it for around six months now and I can hardly put it down. Quote
