Bass Doc / Overwater / Jim Cairnes / John East 6er - NOW £500 plus postage £700

Okay here's the other one which I'm selling. It's a frankenstein build but with top components.

From what I believe / have been informed, it was originally built by Howard (Bass Doc) around 10 - 15 years ago, and it has a Jim Cairnes neck which I don't know if it was fitted during the build or at a later date. The body is Mahogany with a quilted maple cap, and a deep red translucent finish, and the neck is maple with an ebony board. To be honest, it looks and sounds great!

The pickups are EMG soapbars which give great flexibility in sound, and within the last six months I've had it setup by Steve Curtis at The Guitar Repair Workshop in Manchester, where it had it's frets levelled, filed and dressed. A full setup was also done, and I had a 3 band John East preamp fitted.

Hardware wise is where it gets interesting, the heads are heavy duty Schaller, and it's got a thru strung Overwater bridge on it, and it looks like the body was initially built to accommodate that bridge. The shape is also quite Overwater like, but a bit more curvy, and I can't help but notice that the control plate / cavity is the same shape too!

I've also put on a pair of string tees for all six strings, as the space was tight it means the truss cover has had to be reshaped, but it looks fine so that's nothing to worry about.

Now it has worked for a living, so it's had a fair share of dings. There is no damage whatsoever that effects the playability and sound of the bass, the marks / chips are all cosmetic. The worst is where it looks like the previous owner has turned around and knocked the headstock, and it took a chunk off it, however, the remains have been glued back on and it's not caused me any issues.

Reason for sale is basically that I've just bought a new 5 string Warwick, making the need for a 6 string a tad irrelevant to me, especially considering that I was originally in the market for a 5 when I bought it!
