BassTractor Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) Yet another one hits the dust. It surely tells something about age. http://www.alvinlee.com/ . . Edited March 6, 2013 by BassTractor Quote
ead Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 That's bad. I listened to 10 Years After an a lot when I first got into music. Quote
AussieBassman Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 R. I. P. Alvin-too early, not forgotten. Quote

ezbass Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I remember standing on the armrests of my seat at The Hammersmith Odeon (not something I do or did usually) whilst the balcony above me literally bounced when I saw him back in the 70s. Great gig, top 10 certainly. Sad to say that the Woodstock soundtrack and film credits are starting to look very much like an obituary list. RIP Alvin, you were great. Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 We feature 2 or 3 of his songs in our setlist, damn fine player, we will miss him Quote
molan Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 He used to live near me and my dad drank with him now and then (actually my dad drank with most people that lived near us, lol). Dad always said he was a really nice bloke, never listened to his music but thought I'd be impressed because he was a bit of a 'rock god' Quote
flyfisher Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Oh man! 'Love Like A Man' was one of the very first songs I performed (quite badly!) in my first band while at school. Quote
Hot Tub Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Another sad loss. Tonight I shall be listening to "Slow Blues In C", & raising a glass to the memory of a truly exceptional musician. Quote

I used to see them when they did their Sunday night residency at the Marquee. They were a great live band. Quote
Conan Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 That's a shame. A great player and a really nice genuine guy Quote
Lynottfan Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Damn, damn damn! The world of guitar playing just got a little bit slower and little less tasty, going home is enough to recharge anyones batteries, one of the true greats has left us again brothers, RIP Alvin you will be sorely missed. Quote
Hutton Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 A great and passionate player. A sad loss indeed. Quote
