Happy Jack Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013
... I don't want to join another bloke-band doing the same old pub-rock stuff.
I didn't think we'd invited you ... Quote
nugget Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 (edited)
Haven't heard any of those. Must be too old
After Midnight - JJ Cale - You must be too young, 1970 ish, the original version Edited March 7, 2013 by nugget Quote
The Dark Lord Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 I like it. I would lose some of the lesser-known songs and go more populist. But, all-in-all, very good. Just make sure that bass is hgh in the mix. Up there with the lead singer. Quote
tauzero Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013
Anyway, there are plenty on the list that I doubt many people have heard ..
I've only knowingly heard five of them. Quote
darwin Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 We do a good proportion of those in our female fronted covers band along with Love Shack as has been suggested. Its probably not what I'd choose to play to be honest and def not what I listen to by choice but the punters seem to like it and thats the important thing as far as I'm concerned. Cheesy tunes = full dancefloor = happy band Quote
solo4652 Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 Folks, Thanks for your views and comments. Late additions to the list: "Truth or beautiful" by Paloma Faith and "Where are you baby" by Betty Boo. I'm meeting a singer for a chat next week and I have a guitarist and a cajon/percussionist (not me) on hold. Aiming for a 4-piece acoustic setup, but very much dependent on the singer's vocal style and range. Steve Quote
