Takamine B10 fretless archtop bass * SOLD *
£1300

I have owned this beautiful bass for a year or so, bought from Beedster. Its an ultra-high quality Takamine bass that delivers a very upright like tone and can even be played on a brass endpin (comes with the bass). The neck is heavily radius'd, like a double bass, and very chunky and it is wearing LaBella black nylon strings. Its in immaculate condition.

I am after £1300 collected in London - it has a very heavy hard case and I have since acquired (for over £120) a padded, semi-rigid cello case which means it can be easily slung on back and taken to gigs/rehearsals. The bass will come with both cases hence I am after it collected (live nr Hammersmith, work nr Liverpool Street, rehearse in New Cross).

Cash only, no trades please as I have enough bass and DB gear!

The near-identical (bar slightly different preamp) TB10 is £2054 new at GAK (when in stock) which obviously doesn't include the gig-friendly cello case, so this is a net saving of more than £850 on new for the package

Here's a guy showing how it can be played upright in a 'heavy Western' style take (from the very excellent Phillious Williams):

Cheers guys! I suppose I could potentially post but it would be quite pricey as the bass in hard case is pretty heavy and the gig-friendly padded cello case would need a separate box. I am guessing the lot would be £30-40 to post.

I much prefer cash but would entertain partial trade offers (need to clear £700 cash at a minimum as that is what an incoming Fender A/E bass is costing me). Rather specific though - I would be interested in an Acoustic Image Clarus+ head (newer series, two channel as my combo only has the one channel head) or an Epifani UL112 Series 2 cab (to match my existing one).

PS, this is the padded cello bag (£126 online best price) http://www.fusion-ba...ize-black-16258 It absolutely makes gigging with the bass so much more back- and arm-friendly

I have a luthier built Thornbury acoustic bass..it is mighty..with a calton case (equally mighty)..built by Nigel Thornbury (from Oxford)..would you consider a partial trade with cash your way (obviously)..It is a bowl back...Nigel doesn't build anymore..but this would cost you around £2000 to have one built..its a big instrument with a big sound. I thought I had found a lifetime keeper..until I heard yours. I live in Windsor./..not too far away from Oxford.

Thanks for the offer but I am well sorted for basses. One of the reasons I am moving this on is I have a glass back and the Takamine is (as you can see from the vids) quite a big instrument. Appreciate it though :)

Sorry to have cost you a sizeable chunk of money at some point in the future

Bump with reminder of the rather specific p/x options in post number 8 above

OK, not a huge amount of interest after the initial flurry. I would potentially do a p/x or straight trade (depending on value) against a bass that I could sell on, so would have to be a mainstream and/or quality brand (nothing boutique) that has a high chance of finding a new owner PDQ. Four-string only (as I would end up playing it, if it took time to shift), something like a Fender custom shop or vintage Jazz, Musicman Stingray in a regular colour (sunburst, natural), Sadowsky Jazz, that sort of thing. No fretlesses as I have a bunch of those already. Try me, I can only say no at worst!

This is a great bass Clarky! I really hope you find a buyer soon. I am sure all BCers already know you are a super trustworthy gentleman to deal with.

Most kind Roberto - if London and Perth weren't so far apart I would be tempted to try out your beautiful Duke bass thats for sale

I was sitting down playing my one and only bass the other day (and it's been about 20 years since I can talk in terms of only one bass) and found myself really missing the B-10. It's a really very interesting and unique bass; not a hybrid EB/DB that does neither well (as for example is the case with so many EUBs), but a truly unique instrument that can nail both EB and DB tone when required. Alongside my old Wal, it's probably the only electric bass I've owned that I could say hand on heart was a genuinely quality instrument. Goes without saying that I can recommend the seller also!

Tenner a month for the next 12 years 10 months Clarky?
