Basic questions

Just reading about double basses. Are 3/4 basses primarily used for jazz?

3/4 is pretty much the standard. I play classical & mine is a 3/4 (as are the other orchestral players basses). I don't actually know anyone with a full-size one!

Yep, it's only 75% as difficult as a full-sized one

I thought about buying a 4/4 for busking thinking it would be louder but I'm glad I didn't, I would be smacking the pegbox on every doorway rather than every [i]other [/i]doorway with my 3/4s.
