I've just started doing a duo thing with my sax player Hope this is in the right place Thanks Rodders
If you pm me, I will give you a web address and you can download some of my private stash of jazz standard tunes. D you read music ? Or do you just want chord charts? If you want to push the boat out, I recommend the Jamie Aebersold series. Great CD backing tracks (piano bass and drums normally) with "the dots" to go with the tunes. Have a look at www.fretsonly.com and in the search box put Aebersold. Or go direct to his site http://www.aebersold.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc If you play by ear only, you are going to need the mp3's - I have lots. Let me know and I will upload some stuff for you to start off with. Robert

wulf
Realistically, a lot is going to depend on what the sax player is happy with. If they are like the players I have come across, they will have a set of tunes they are confident on, having spent a lot of time working their way through the melody and over the changes. That is not to say that they can't learn more but that would be your best starting point. Most players also have one or more Real Books / Fake Books. Again, if you've got the same one as the sax player, you are good to go. Wulf ps. To see what is on my jazz band's playlist, check our Last.fm page; apart from a few originals (including one free download) the materials is mainly standards
