graham1945 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Hi, can anyone refer me to a web address relating to the sale of used personal musical equipment to a private individual in the EU. Am just about to sell a bass to an EU buyer and want to be sure that neither of us is liable to any tax/duty. Many thanks, Graham Quote
neepheid Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 If the country is in the EU then the recipient won't pay any duty. As the exporter, you won't be liable for anything, even if you're sending it beyond the EU, the burden is always on the importer/recipient. Quote

nobodysprefect Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 The tax-free trade area was one of the central benefits of the EU - or EC, as it was called those days - funny that you should be unaware of it... But then, you DO live in Britain! Quote
flyfisher Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Of course, if you're selling it for a massive profit then you might have to consider capital gains tax . . . . Quote
