neepheid Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 It's quite a departure from their usual models, isn't it? It reminds me a little of one of these (Washburn Taurus): Quote
risingson Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) It's the bass player's bass from Alien Ant Farm, only my favourite band when I was 11 or 12! There is a story behind the building of this, I don't think it was made by Fender at all but ended up with the stamp on it. EDIT - apparently it's a custom shop, which makes me totally wrong! Jack Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I really wish they'd put those into production. Thought it was a shame at the time too. Quote
chrismuzz Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 All these years and I never knew it was a Fender. Bizarre!! It's a shame they don't make more unique instruments, despite the fact that they don't need to. Quote
discreet Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 What? You can't accuse Fender of being dull and unimaginative with this one! They're damned if they do and damned if they don't, it seems. Quote
TheGreek Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Far too radical for Fender to seriously consider putting into production - after all, they've got a (conservative) reputation to keep.. Quote
rushbo Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 That's rather yummy. Lynottfan Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 That is a crazy looking machine, Alien Ant farm did the Smooth criminal cover iirc? they were pretty good. Fender boring? No for me they are just the standard we are all so used to it I guess now. Quote
D.I. Joe Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Fenders are generally only as boring as the person playing them. This... well... it's not my bag really Quote

cocco Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I like it. I like it even more because fender built it. I believe Tye refers to it as 'The oar'. Quote

Fat Rich Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I like the way it looks fairly modern and sleek from the front but then has that giant agricultural chrome neck plate on the back like something from the fifties Quote
WhoNeedsYou Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Personally I hate it. :-o There I said it! Each to their own tho. Quote
