Peter Banks was the original guitarist in Yes, and was himself influenced by Steve Howe, who'd be his successor in Yes.

He only became 65 years old.

I was listening to Yes' first LP yesterday (on ipod shuffle) and remember thinking that Banks was a arguably a better guitar player than Howe. Much underated in the history of Prog and one who I will certainly miss.

+1 on the early Yes albums - and PB's guitar work.

Very underrated. I think 'Time And A Word' is one of Yes' best albums, love the experimentation with the orchestra.

Sad to hear, I saw yes a few times in the early days, partial memories of Crystal Palace in 71 was Peter's last gig with them.
