Musicman20
I almost had a 5 HS as well as my new 5 HH Bongo. The 5 HS on the Sterling and Stingray, as per the models I have, are stunning. You can definitely get a cool Jazz-ish vibe with it, a proper Musicman tone, and an almost P bass crossed with a Gibson for the more hollow warm neck pup. Of course, all with the Musicman DNA. The Bongo HH seems the most popular by far. I think the only thing putting me off a H is the fact you don't have the 4 band EQ, and I agree, the mid controls are what makes the Bongo so damn brilliant. You can get around this with the H Piezo, but needs another £250!!! The problem I have is that the UK just haven't accepted the Bongo, nor indeed many of the other Musicman shapes, even the Reflex. So, getting one is hard work, especially if you want a different spec (bright colours, piezo, H or HS, 5 or 6). More shops should stock them, like Bass Direct do from time to time. Heck, if there was a shop stocking a 5 HS right now, in the colour I liked, and it was a reasonable price, I would buy it. I just don't want the long wait at the moment, (and that is no criticism, they are just busy).
