barneyg42 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 http://www.ironmaiden.com/former-iron-maiden-drummer-clive-burr-passes-away.html Ex Samson and Iron Maiden drummer passes away after long battle with MS. Very sad. Quote
Clarky Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 V Sad. Here he is at the Marquee in 1980, a gig I am pretty sure I attended http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI-LoFQeSNc Quote
Noisyjon Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 How very sad What a drummer. I got to see him a few times at close quarters when he was in my guitar teacher's band... RIP Clive. Quote
leonshelley01 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Sad news. I remember going to see Maiden at Earls Court in 2006 with my sister who was on crutches, so we were in the disabled access section and sat next to Clive and his wife during the gig, chatting frequently. A genuinely nice guy, very humble and still held in great affection by the fans, as demonstrated by the "Clive" chants from nearby fans. My thoughts are with his family, especially Mimi who cared for him during the MS. RIP Clive Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Shame. Saw him lots in the early days. Quote
the_skezz Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Gutting - I'd have loved to have seen him with the band back in the day, excellent drummer. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013
V Sad. Here he is at the Marquee in 1980, a gig I am pretty sure I attended http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI-LoFQeSNc
I think this was the gig for the Danny baker documentary. They did 3 ( or was it 4 nights) . I went to first and last nights. People fainting etc. awesome. Quote
sykilz Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Clive RIP. Still awed by the power of those drums at the start of The Prisoner, remember as a young lad listening to Maiden on my cassette Walkman under the duvet (!). Great memories. Quote
Lynottfan Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Well gutted, Maiden are a big thing for me, they have been part of my life for so long, God bless ya Clive, RIP. Quote
Conan Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I'm surprised how sad I feel about this. Great drummer and early Maiden were a big part of my teenage years. Bloody shame. RIP Clive Quote
Rayman Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 That's a real shame. Saw him with Maiden in 1980, my first gig, and very fondly remembered. MS runs in my family, so this has touched a nerve. Rock on Clive :-( Quote
neepheid Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Sad about this, like many others have already said, Iron Maiden were a big part of my growing up (I think Iron Maiden, "Killers" was the second tape I ever bought by myself - I remember my Mum not being thrilled at the cover ). Always liked Clive's drumming, a damn shame what happened to him with the MS. RIP Clive. Off to listen to some early Maiden now. Quote
bartelby Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013
RIP Clive. Off to listen to some early Maiden now.
I've just finished listening to Iron Maiden, now onto Killers... RIP Clive Quote

jezzaboy Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I`m with you Conan on this sad passing. I was surprised how sad I felt last night when I read this. I never really got into Maiden until Piece of mind that had Nicko in the line up and only listened to the first few albums later. Great drummer and came across as a nice guy in the few interviews I have watched with him in. I know he was still well loved by the Iron Maiden family and can`t imagine how bad it is for them. Quote
swanbrook Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Why did he leave maiden, never really knew that for sure Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013
Why did he leave maiden, never really knew that for sure
He was 'replaced ' . Story about this in classic rock about 6 months ago. Not very nice by all accounts . Quote

swanbrook Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Pity he was a great drummer, number of the beast was my first IM tape !! Quote
chardbass Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I distinctly remember hearing the intro to The Prisoner on The Friday Rock Show and having to write the title down. (I wrote it on one of those black cards where you scratched the black away to reveal white underneath) Run to the Hills was an iconic drum intro- still is. Sad news. RIP Clive. Quote
redbandit599 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Sad news indeed, Maiden were my 'Beatles' and (imho) Clive kicks Ringo's butt every time. Time to re-ignite my campiagn to get 'The Prisoner' into our set. RIP Clive. Quote
