Telebass
I work very near to GAK and I have to use all my will power to not be in there every lunch break. Oh yeah and nice purchase
I doubt I could deal with that... Sounds: Unmodified, it's pretty dark and very, very hot. Probably best to plug it into an active socket. Modified to parallel, it's still pretty hot, despite being down to 5.5K. Presumably a very powerful ceramic magnet in there somewhere. But the mod does give it a generous portion of zing and zip, limited a bit by the large sensing area, so it will never sound sound like a P-bass. I find it sustains well, has none of the Fender traditional dead spots, and the tension with the original rounds was good, and even better with TI Jazz Flats, albeit an old 34" set. Telebass
OK, first fail. Bought a set of 'short scale' RS77 Jazz Bass Rotos, thinking that the 32" Thomastik JF324s would be too long, even though they are designed specifically for a particular 30" scale bass - the Hofner Violin Bass. The Rotos are too short and the (rather fetching blue) silks are on or over the nut, causing all sorts of weird overtones and wolf notes. So, if anyone has a 30" scale bass that top-loads, make me an offer! Back to Strings Direct...
spaners
Great little bass, i bought one three weeks ago from Navada music in Portsmouth. Although i think the oly white/blue stripe is the preetyest i chose the red one to go with my amp and cab (both red). finish is second to none. I A/Bd against an aray of fenders and gibbos and the Mustang was streets ahead of everything I tryed. I had been saving for a new bass and had enough in the bank to take my pick of what was on offer upto and including an american P. Love the sound and feel of this little bass, i'm thinking of loading it with some tape wound's ( have them on all my basses). i'm a big fan of these. Telebass
Nice! Do you just plug in to a passive input and go for it, or do you tame it by plugging into an active input? When I get home from London, there should be a set of TI JF324 Jazz Flats waiting for me.that will smooth things out a bit!

Immo
And the Pawn Shop Mustang Bass was an instant love for me. I love the concept behind this little fella - basically a short scale beginner's bass with the most powerful Fender pickup installed, plus the pinstripes - it's just like it's namesake car, Ford Mustang - a simple toy for power freaks (and that's a compliment). I love it, I love it, I love it. If I ever return to my previous line of work (and thus return to my previous income), I swear I'll buy this baby right away. As about the power of the pickup - I'd have simply installed a push/pull potentiometer, adding a series/parallel switching. Making a one pickup bass more versatile is NEVER a sin, mark my words on that
Gota +1 that, got the tele bass spiceal too loaded with Picato black nylon tape wound flats n it sounds awsome, the humbucker is a great pickup n part of what drew me to the new pawnshop Mustang

jezzaboy
Here is a pic of my Mustang bass bridge. I have returned it to the shop due to it being out of line. What do you Mustang owners think? Telebass
Great bass. Easy to play. No dead spots. Surprisingly good sustain, even with flats on. Mine is not fantastically light at 8.5lbs, but I'm happy with it. Looks good, although one punter familiar with our band said the Oly white 'n stripes was not remotely macho enough compared to my all-black and maple Precision!
