Hello fellow Basschatter's. Well after owning a Stagg EUB for a couple of years and becoming more and more seduced by the 'dark side' I'm thinking its time to upgrade. Obvious choices are either a second hand NS EUB (advantages - storage, transportability) or a low end upright. Budget will be second hand NS money. What is the collective Basschat wisdom on options?

You can get a good laminate bass for £500 that will be easy to play and sound pretty good. The only problem is then you'll accidentally hear a tune with Ron Carter on it or Danny Thompson or somebody and wish your bass sounded like his, and then it gets messy. :D

Even after I upgraded, I kept my £500 laminate bass. It's actually seeing more action than my 'main' bass at the moment.

Since i got the laminate bass my stagg has been converted to a dust collector....i should use it more <_<
Seems like alot of the folk who start with a EUB end up jumping ship to the real thing in shortish order.
