Bilbo
Tony Hougham is over your way. He is pretty hardcore.

27 frets
Hi folks As a new EUB owner, I want to get the basics of posture, fingering, etc right to start with. Can anyone out there rcommend Double Bass Tutors in Essex in the Chelmsford area? Cheers
+1 for Bilbo's reply. Tony Hougham taught me - he's in Great Baddow. Tony is a top classical DB player (Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and tutoring at various colleges), but I know he's also taught Jazz players. Not sure what he'd make of EUB though. Depending on what you're looking for, I could possibly give some pointers on basic upright bass technique
itsat34
Thanks for the offer 27 frets; I've played Bass guitar for a while but only thumpity thumped on a DB very infrequently. Gottan Eub (from the famous Alistair of Gedo Bass thread fame) with a view to get to grips with basics on an EUB then inexorably be drawn to getting a double bass. (I know its inevitable) So I want to start from the beginning, stance, basic positions wrist exercises, fingering etc......? ie start as a complete noobie Cheers
