Fender P 1959 price tag?

How much would you estimate an all original 1959 Fender P in 3 tone sunburst might be worth? Condition is a 9/10.
I'm not selling.. just looking! (make that window shopping)

I`d have said approx start-off at about £4000, then a case of luck if someones selling.........

Some of the dealers on Gbase are on the pipe with their prices! Used to get some good deals up there but not for years!

£4000!!!! Where have you seen that? I think £6k+ depending on condition and your haggling skills is more realistic if buying from a dealer. I think Bass Gallery had one advertised not to long ago for £8000

Depending on condition, and how much the seller needs to sell. Must admit I think £6000+ is more likely, but you can hit on a bargain if lucky.

If buying from the US a good one in very good shape can be had for around £6.5k, though dealer advertized prices tend to be higher.

There was an insanely beautiful S/B one at Bass Emporium for a while at $10k, and Dan at Chelsea Guitars in NYC has a fabulous looking one he will sell for the same price. He makes extraordinary claims for it but I've played a few basses he's had in his shop over the years and he knows what's what, and only buys great instruments. I passed up an all original black '66 J with ovals, dots and bindings that he would have let go for $5000 a few years ago, and it was probably the best playing vintage J I had ever picked up, just seemed to play itself. He gets a lot of pros through his shop daily and a lot of very fine instruments go through that tiny shop, and he's been working that way for decades.
