bassmayhem Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) My two "new" best friends, but the worst enemies of my back: The Super Bassman with 810 Neo cab, and the 100T with a "Fenderized" Hughes & Kettner QS810L that used to tour with the Swedish hard rock group Europe... The club setup: 100T and 115 Neo (can also be used with the Super Bassman). I bought this cab from knicknack here on BC and had it shipped for a very modest price to Sweden. Sometimes I use the Monique in front, but that is sheer luxury. Edited October 31, 2019 by bassmayhem 5 Quote

binky_bass Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Can't get much more valvey that the 8 KT88 Mesa valves that live inside this beast... This is simply the best, by a fairly long way, amp I've ever used, and I've used MANY! Can't say much more than that really. VALVES!!! 3 Quote

Nothingman Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 (edited) Now admittedly, not my amp. But when I got my Roost cab made, it was straight down to the studio to go through a lovely Selmar. Edited May 19, 2020 by Nothingman 3 Quote
Quilly Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Any good modern guitar valve heads that can be used for bass ? Quote

Pow_22 Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 My USA SVT made in the 90’s (SLM). Nothing sounds like it - ive tried all the emulation pedals, modelling amps yadda yadda, this just is THAT tone. Sadly to heavy for me now but i still like to fire her up and hear that tone from so many old gigs and hits 1 Quote
Painy Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 I now have a big valve rig and a little valve rig - and for anyone complaining about the weight of valve amps I got that CTM300 up on top of the 6x10 and 4x10 on my own no trouble and I'm only 5'8"so no excuses. 😁 3 Quote
Reggaebass Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Quick question about the V4-B, I understand the -15 dB is for active basses but is it safe to plug in an active bass into the 0 dB input 1 Quote

The worst that happens is the that the preamp tubes overdrive a bit - oh Damn 😅 1 Quote

They’re very forgiving these valve heads . The only thing that kills them is running them without a load. 1 Quote

Salt on your Bass? Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Managed to have a loud rehearsal tonight as our singer couldn't get fuel...so we took advantage. So nice to open the amp up properly with a lot of speakers. Tonal nirvana for 2.5 hours. 4 Quote
LeftyJ Posted October 3, 2021 Posted October 3, 2021 Not a bass amp, but since the very post that started this thread had a Laney g**t*r amp as well, I might as well. Here's the cute little Peavey JSX Mini Colossal I bought last week! 5 watts, made in the USA, built-in power brake (that HUGE pot on the rear panel!), FX loop, optical tremolo and custom 8" Weber speaker. It's like the Vibro Champ's evil unidentical twin! 2 Quote
SurroundedByManatees Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 (edited) Picked up this Ampeg B25B a few days ago. It sounds ridiculously good and plenty loud.... Will have it checked by a tech, and will be my main amp once serviced I also still have the Bassman 135, but that will leave the building as I can't keep them all.. Hooch Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 (edited) There's not a bunch of them in the wild, Micah builds them on order, and for a few months now. They're custom specc'd, went for a 66 B-15 octal pre, Arkham's featured - hi/lo resonance, fixed mid bump and hpf switches, and this awesome range knob which sets the baxandall EQ center frequency, line out, power amp in... This one is a split rail version, with a (super tasty) touch-sensitive breakup, as opposed to Ultra Linear alla Sunn version). A pair of KT90 feeds a huge output transformer up to 75W clean power of tonal nirvana. It's a mind-blowing amp, covers such a lot of ground. The nice part of it is it makes any of my basses singing, even the 'counter-intuitive' ones considering its 60s roots. My Warwick SS2 never sounded that good ! Micah's pre & cratmanship is awesome.
