Mexican Fender Jazz deluxe - the active one. Great bass but it has issues hence the price....

I bought it about 15 months ago year ago as a stop gap measure for my son- and its done really well.
he has since moved on to another bass so this is surplus to requirements.

The bass plays well and sounds good.

Its had a hard life... and the issues are:
- the paint is cracked round by control plate
- a few scrapes dinsg scratches and the surface has been rubbed down to the wood in a few places -esp around jack socket
- volume control seems to have given up (maybe loose connection) - though the 3 band eq and pickup selector work fine
- some cracks on the back of the neck.

I've tried to show these in photos but my photography skills are pretty bad.

I would prefer a pick up (or we meet up) so you can see what your getting. No case Im afraid.
I'm in North Essex - near stansted but work in London

Its priced at what I paid for it.

why not rip the guts out of it and wire it as a passive v/v/t if you're after a passive jazz? especially as you mention the vol knob being non-functional...

I'm a bit cack handed but might be worth a try

... would the existing pickups work ok with a standard passive circuit?

If you drop kiogon a pm (on here) and explain what you've got and what you're after, he makes wiring looms that are dead easy to install (no soldering!) and he might be able to advise on whether the pups will work ok in passive (I imagine they will as they'll just be standard fender fare)
