Mr. Foxen Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Finally got this one working again. Waiting for nice weather to oil the neck was biggest hold up: Quote
Bloodaxe Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Cool. What did you end up putting in the hole? Quote
Wilco Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 Despite me no longer having my Aria's, I still think Matsumoku basses are brilliant. Therefore a bump for my original thread - would be interesting to see what instruments fellow BC'ers might have added to their collection since the last post two years ago! Quote
DarkHeart Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Heres mine, an Aria ZZB Custom, a Westone Thunder 1A v3 and a much modified Westone Quantum. I'm quite looking forward to giving one a spin! Quote
anDy LAKIN Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 here is my westbury track 4 from 1980 i believe there is a track 2 on ebay at the moment too Quote
Grangur Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 This is a bit of a blatant plug really. I like this bass, had some fun with it, but it's time to move it on. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy taking a look More pics here Quote

bassbiscuits Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Ah Westones - they were lovely back in the day. Over a few years from about 1986-1991 I had a white Spectrum ST bass, two natural Thunder 1A basses and borrowed my mate's black Spectrum DX as a spare for gigs. The Spectrum ST was my first serious bass after I'd limped along for a year on an awful short scale plywood Satellite bass. I got the Thunder 1As later as back ups as I'd tracked them doing cheaply secondhand. They were great but I remember both weighing a tonne. Quote
Dood Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I've found one, I'm awaiting delivery.. it's a law-suit P Bass! Quote
Dood Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 WOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've played many many P basses in my time, but this one is an absolute peach!!!! This is a '76 Ash and Maple 'Law Suit' P. It sounds every bit as good as the best Fenders at a ridiculous snip of a price. I'm thinking about getting another already! - I've just been recording the bass with very little EQ and it just commands my mix! WOW! is all I can say! Quote
Dood Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I'm thinking about putting a black guard on it, what do you think? Quote

Dood Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Thank you guys! I am so so pleased with this bass! I'm going to look for a black U.S. Plate with the slot for the truss rod adjustment on it. Yup I think it'll look cool!! Quote

But where is the Bass Doc when we need him. He's another we sadly miss. Quote

Everything has a lovely 'worn in' feel. So, if I went for a black guard, would black hardware be too much? Or keep it to nickel/non shiny chrome hardware? Yes, we're losing too many good people!! Dood Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Absolutely, I'm leaving this peach was it is but I think I'd like a new guard on board at least. Quote
Dood Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Ok so I went with a new black guard. The Fender US type looks like a perfect fit and had a cutaway for the truss rod adjustment. Whilst I'm there, in going to replace the pots as I think they've seen better days. This bass is gonna get lots of use. Have I been really lucky or are all Mat' basses stonkingly good? I mean - "really good, why would I spend more on a P bass" good!! Quote
