Dood
Love the Laney Nexus stuff, designed and built in blighty too!
YES YES YES! - I reviewed both the Nexus FET and Nexus TUBE heads along with Laney's range of cabinets in Guitar Interactive Mag and I was seriously impressed with the Tube stuff. Laney are enjoying a return to force at the moment especially with their valve guitar heads. Interestingly, one of my favourite guitar amps is Laney's GH100L - Superb sounding dynamic amplifier. Good to see a british brand flying the flag.

JamesBass
What about Gartone? Anyone familiar with them? They seem like great heads, still looking for some sound bytes and stuff but they seem to come across well on the website, little pricey? grenadilla
I would like that big Marshall tube head with 375 watts .I am almost able to afford the Canadian Traynor 200 with 4 KT 88s. Is this amp worthy? I used to own a Marshall Major. Would the Traynor 200 be a big letdown? Are Traynors almost British? I have a MAG600 and a Marshall MB450H now. Should I go to KT88s (again) ?? VTypeV4
I love KT88s but as many will tell you, it's the circuit design that counts as much as the valve type.. My Ashton runs 6 x KT88 of EHX variety. Neither are british but they do sound great.

basshead56
Any love for the Marshall VBA400? A demon-bast**d in terms of weight but what a sound!!! And she sounds even better atop 2 matching VBC412 cabs! Nowt more Rock n'roll (and likely to s**t up your guitarist!) That's coming from a non-Brit who's been flung to the furthest corner of the old Empire mind you
Damonjames
Being australian some of the British brands are quite new to me, but others I have known for years. Personally I wouldn't buy British for the sake of it, it has to do what I need it to in terms of sound/playability. The concept of buying from a British company is noble, but I dont think it really reflects on the quality on offer from the bigger boys. I would however if funds allowed by "bespoke" and being here that would mean British. Overwater, matamp, and barefaced all seem to get lots of love on here (I have a matamp cab and love it), and all three will stand behind there product in terms of after sale support (I hear orange are quite good too). I'd fancy the three mentioned above are not hiding their cash offshore either!
4 Strings
The concept of buying from a British company is noble, but I dont think it really reflects on the quality on offer from the bigger boys.
I expect there is another manufacturer who uses the same, expensive Eminence drivers as Barefaced, but I don't know one. I think BF come up among the lightest too and right up there in sound quality and power handling. You may find a mass produced cab of this quality, but I don't know where. 3below
Barefaced cab = excellent, I have owned two (still have one). Shermann Audio built me a 3 way bass cab (think Barefaced big one / fearful 15/6/1), again excellent quality from a long established British manufacturer. Start saving and get an original Hiwatt or have a clone made. It will last a lifetime. Shermann would build a 'wide' cabinet.
