Stance Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) Don´t know if it was already posted here, but here goes For everyone who wants to know a bit more about pop/rock culture BTW, check out Josh Homme´s FAT sound around 1h25m- he´s playing a 70´s hollow Yamaha (actually there was aguy selling one like that over here for 100 euros... Unfortunatelly I arrived late...) Macca is in there too Well, enjoy! Edited March 28, 2013 by Stance Quote
ingmar808 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 The whole Macca bit at the end is great - brilliant vocals. The guy's still got it, despite Heather Mills' best efforts. Quote
Bret Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I've seen Sound City several times now. Can't get enough of it. Quote
bartelby Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I can't remember whether it was Tape Op magazine or not, but someone did a great article pointing out some of the inaccuracies in Mr Grohl's documentary. Quote

ben604 Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I thought the Macca part was the least enjoyable bit. The song they wrote is useless, it sounds like a song they had 2 hours to write during a break in Macca's schedule. Quote
Agreed, rumour has it he didn't realise who he was playing with either (with the exception of Dave). It started off as a documentary about the studio and the desk but i felt it eemed to turn into an advertising feature for the album. That said, I did enjoy the josh Holme and Trent Reznor bit. It was interesting to watch how Trent worked with his computers etc.. Quote
cytania Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Really enjoyed it. Some oddly funny moments. Love the catalogue of Sound City artists; Ratt, Dio, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails... and then up pops Barry Manilow. Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Interesting 'movie'! I liked it. Agreed re the Trent/Homme/Grohl section...great! Paul's section was a bit weird...his vocals...why?! I have a lot of respect for Paul but Grohl/etc are pretty heavyweight musicians themselves. Quote
Stance Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Actually I tought the Macca bit rocked. Now, whether he knew who he´s playing with I don´t know, but it looks like he was having a good time! Quote
leroydiamond Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) Really enjoyed this documentary. Always interested in the analogue V digital argument. Cannot help but to see my local "record" store is fast becoming just that. Bloody vinyl everywhere!. Really good to see. Recently I had some folk over at my place who have been raised on mp3, iPod's etc and they were blown away by the sound of vinyl. Edited October 12, 2013 by leroydiamond Quote
